Initially moving to Spain for training, his family then moved to Hungary and is based there. At age 13 he changed his chess affiliation to Italy, where he is now the highest ranked player. 	Het zal toeval zijn dat bij de nadering van de 71ste editie de zeis zo veel slachtoffers maakt onder oude bekenden van het Corus toernooi. Na het verlies van Theodor Ghitescu in november moesten we deze maand afscheid nemen van twee schakers uit het voormalige Joegoslavië. Op 16 december overleed in Belgrado Nikola Karaklajic, die een van Kortchnoi’s tegenstanders was tijdens diens formidabele openingsserie van 8 uit 8 in 1968. Een paar dagen later kwam het bericht dat Albin Planinc op 63-jarige leeftijd in Slovenië was gestorven... (lees meer)
